To heal is to become whole. That is what I have learned over time.
While cleaning out my computer and naming untitled documents I came across endless beginnings of poetry, songs and essays on Healing. Beginnings but no endings. Possibly because Healing is a never ending process? At least that‘s how I see it.
There is trauma and pain of the kind that is inflicted and beyond my imagination. But that is not the kind of Healing that I am talking about. I mean Healing that refers to the human condition, the path we all follow in oder to become whole, fulfilled and at peace with who we are. The Healing that is inherent to living life, to being in the present moment and in committing to oneself, with everything that entails. Because often Healing actually means to heal from the pain we inflict upon ourselves. By not honouring our needs or disregarding our path. In a way Healing is like playing a board game: you take a wrong turn and wind up back at the starting point. And then step by step you move through the motions until you have reached the end of the game. And then the next Healing process begins. It’s like walking through our inner rooms, one by one, opening windows and letting the light in. Or the way Rumi puts it: “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
And that’s how we become whole.
