Quintessentially Me.

Opposing sides of the One.

I was contemplating Yin & Yang and how they are opposites that contain each other. And that therefore there truly is no duality, even if our education and society at large will make us believe otherwise.

A system as ancient as the Daoist path that describes everything and nothing at the same time, knowledge which is not knowing anything, the plant within the seed that is the tree in all the forests of all existence… it boggles the mind. But nevertheless it is all One. We are all One. We breathe the same air, we are all subject to the same force of gravity as we walk the same Earth under the same Sun, bathe in the same Moon, the same Oceans.

This is just the beginning of a chain of thoughts, that has been with me for the past weeks. The world we live in, Western society, the oppositions created through recent and less recent events in all kinds of spectra, not just political. How do we reach out to each other, be there for each other, hold each other across these chasms and abysses and gaping wounds of human pain?

One Love, said Bob Marley. One Heart. And as kids we would sing these lyrics out loud without the first notion of what it really meant. I’m not a kid anymore and I want to know.
